Custom-Size Mattresses, Made to Your Exact Measurements

High-street bed sizes stop at a handful of standard figures, but real beds rarely do. An antique or reclaimed frame follows its own generous proportions; a Continental or American import runs to sizes the UK never made; a boxed-in box room or a built-in bunk needs a width no shop stocks; and a bed that’s simply longer, wider or deeper than a super king is off the shelf entirely. Rather than force the nearest standard mattress into a bed it was never cut for, we make every mattress to the exact measurements you give us — down to the centimetre.

The feel is yours to choose. Above, you can pick the mattress that suits how you actually sleep — a supportive reflex foam, a cradling memory foam, a springy latex-feel, a cool-gel layer for hot sleepers, or a deep pocket-sprung build with hundreds of individual springs — and whichever you choose is then cut to your size. We’ve made mattresses to measure in Britain for more than 40 years, one at a time in our Birmingham workshop, so an unusual size is routine here rather than a special request.

Whatever the figure — a few centimetres over a standard, a genuinely one-off size, or a matched pair for a zip-and-link bed — it’s built to order, certified to BS 7177, the British fire-safety standard for mattresses, and vacuum-rolled into a box slim enough to carry through the front door and up the stairs. Custom-Size Mattress FAQs

Which mattress should I choose?

It comes down to how you sleep. A reflex foam gives dependable support at the keenest price; memory foam cradles hips and shoulders and eases pressure; a latex-feel foam is springier and cooler; a cool-gel layer suits anyone who sleeps hot; and a pocket-sprung build is the closest thing to a luxury bedroom mattress. Each is shown above with what it’s best for — and if you’d like a steer, tell us how you sleep and we’ll recommend one.

What sizes can you make?

Any size at all. We’re not tied to standard UK sizes, so extra-long, extra-wide, narrow, oversized and every odd figure in between are made to the exact centimetres you give us. If your bed falls between two standard sizes, or beyond the biggest, that’s exactly what we’re here for.

Can you match the size of my current mattress?

Yes — measure your old mattress (or the inside of the bed base) for length and width and we’ll match it precisely. If the old one has sagged or spread over the years, measure the base instead and we’ll cut to that, so the new mattress sits square in the frame.

What firmness options are there?

Most of our mattresses are offered in a choice of firmness — typically medium, firm or hard — so you can match the support to your weight and how you like to lie. The firmness choices for each mattress appear as you build it above; tell us your preference and we’ll make it to suit.

What depth can I have?

It depends on the mattress and your bed. Slimmer foam builds start shallow and are easy to handle; the pocket-sprung and multi-layer builds are deeper for a more substantial feel. A low platform or a bed under a sloping ceiling is often better with a trimmer depth — if you’re unsure, tell us the bed and we’ll point you to the right one.

Do you make split or zip-and-link mattresses?

We do. A matched pair can be made for a zip-and-link bed, for a tight staircase where one piece simply won’t go up, or where two people want different firmness on each side — cut from the same specification so the pair sits level as one bed.

How long does it take, and how is it delivered?

Because each mattress is made to order, we’ll confirm your make-and-delivery date when you place the order rather than quote a fixed figure here. It ships vacuum-rolled in a box, free anywhere in mainland UK, ready to unpack and breathe back into shape.

How much does a custom-size mattress cost?

The price follows the size, the depth and the mattress you choose — a simple foam in a modest size is the most economical, a deep pocket-sprung build in an oversized figure more. Rather than guess, choose your mattress above: it prices your exact specification on the spot, before you commit a penny.

Can you make mattresses for hotels, holiday lets or the hospitality trade?

Yes — as well as the domestic build, we make mattresses to the contract fire standard for commercial lets. That’s BS 7177 at medium-hazard level, which adds the Crib 5 (BS 5852 Ignition Source 5) test required in hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, holiday cottages and student accommodation. Tell us it’s for a let and we’ll build and certify it to the right level for the setting.
